The Mac Space is now running a beta version of an updated profiling system. This is a newer and better version of the system we were running before. So far everything is working great, but let me know if you have any problems.

Dual G5 Problems

I'm having problems with my dual G5. I think my hard drive finally bit the dust. I've got the data backed up and fortunately these days hard drives are SO cheap it won't cost a ton to put a new one in.

I'm likely going to just put a 1 terabyte drive in it and all it's going to run is about $180.00.

The pain will be getting all my software working again, and reauthorizing my adobe products.

I just got a Mac Space mail from a "female who checked out my profile and want relationship with me." While I'm flattered that this female "want relationship" with me, I know better. his is a bulk message from a spammer.

I'd almost forgotten my old "Power Computing" "Power 100" computer, from back when clones were OK.

Ok I believe I've finished my current batch of upgrades and tweaks to the blogging and comment system.

There are a few new features and some better ways of laying out the menus, I hope!

Got two monitors running on my G5 now

A pal of mine gave me a Mac DVI to VGA adapter which he bought at the closing of compUSA for $2.00. I have no idea how much this cable would normally be, but it's safe to say it would be more than $2.00.

I've had a 23" Acer monitor hooked up to the DVI port of my Dual G5 2.0 and decided to hook up my old 1280x1024 LCD to the 2nd monitor port. I couldn't find the original Apple DVI-VGA adapter so I looked on ebay. They're only $5.00.

Not thrilled with the phones iPods come with

Had a flight to Orlando and back last week and I finally got to break my new iPod shuffle out of the wrapper and use it. I'm very happy with the unit but, just as I remember, the headphones don't fit in my ears very well. They slip out and as they slip the bass goes away.

So the 2nd time I got to use them I busted out my Etymotic i6 Isolator headphones and they work much better since they go right in the canal of the ear.

Golf and Apple products, right up my alley

I'm at the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show. For you mac users this is golf's Mac World.

I'm in the lobby of my hotel listening to Cuban tourists singing karaoke of Sweet Home Alabama...

Anyway, Callaway golf has a sunglasses line which includes an iPod speaker system/glasses case. I'll have a review on it soon.

TMS Tweaks: Added new members module

I'm very happy with the latest module I added. It's a "new member" module which currently shows the profile image of the last 6 new members. If you put your mouse over the icons, a tooltip pops up with info about the member. Clicking the icon opens the member's profile.

TMS tweaks: IE display fixes

I did some tweaking of the site template today to make the main menu display correctly in Internet Explorer. IE is not a priority, since most Mac users will be using Safari or Firefox. But since many members may be iPod or iPhone users on the PC I figured I'd better fix it.

Previously the menu selections were breaking the template but now they're all ok. IE is a pain. You can get things looking great in Safari or FF but then when you check it on IE [...]

TMS Tweaks: "No image" icons updated

I got rid of the generic "no image" profile icons and replaced them with TMS styled ones... Looks better!

Nice friend #2 / more ram

Man I posted about a buddy who gave me an iPod shuffle for christmas. What a nice present!

So he just upgraded his macbook pro and had an extra 1GB ram stick laying around. Since my MacBook has two 512's in it he traded me a 512 for a 1GB. So I bumped my macbook up from 1GB to 1.5GB of ram. He and my other mac pal say I'll notice a bid performance increase. I'll report on that shortly.

Apple just announced the new Mac Pro, their fastest machine ever.

For fun, I went to the Apple site and built the most bad-ass Mac Pro I could with all the most expensive options available.

Total cost? $27,340.90
