Looking for an Older Mac 4 Years ago
Ok so I have a macbook and would like to expand and have a desktop but since I am in college I would be pleased with any mac that could run 10.4.... I havent tried leopard so tiger is fine for me... And would anyone be able to help me network them in such a way that I could set up the g4 (assuming i find one ) to my television so that I could stream music/movies from my macbook and external hard drives to the tv?

Would a g4 have enough horse power to do that?

Yes an iBook G4 can generate enough resolution and the framerate to do it. However it wouldn't really be streaming, you'd basically be using the iBook as a display. Now the only catch is that it has Mini-VGA. So if you want to drive that res on a TV, you need to either have a TV that has VGA... or a TV that has component and buy a VGA-Component Transcoder. The latter would be a bit more expensive but if it's your only option then you do what you have to do.

If you want to do streaming to your TV buy an AppleTV.
