I was pretty discouraged after the last blog post. This morning I was near the local Apple store and last night I’d checked the iPhone availability chart to see if they’d have any units. They were scheduled to have some.

I got there about 9:30am to find only three people in line in front of me. I got my certificate for the phone and had the option to wait for about a half an hour or come back to have my guaranteed phone later. I chose to stay.

My genius was nice and I was out of there in about 30-40 minutes with my new black 16gb iPhone! I’m excited to have my new toy and to now be able to start reviewing iPhone apps.

I stopped by my local AT&T store in the hopes that a shipment of the new iPhone 3G’s came in and that I’d finally get mine.  No such luck.  In fact, the AT&T guy said that they were pre-selling 3G’s and it would take 14 days to “several weeks” for the pre-sold units to arrive.

I guess my upcoming trip to Southern California next week won’t be aided by the GPS in my new iPhone.
