Golf Flyover is an application for the Apple iPhone which turns the phone into a golf GPS.  You can track your yardages on nearly 13000 courses on your iPhone.  In addition, you can view flyovers of the holes on the course.  This is so freakin’ cool.  If you’re playing a course you’ve never seen before you can do a flyover and see the terrain and hazards etc.  Finally, there’s a break reader which uses the accelerometer of the iPhone.  You simply put the phone on the putting green and it will show you the break.

I’ll be doing a full review of Golf Flyover soon.

When I got my iPhone3G I decided it was time to try Apple’s MobileMe. The concept is great. I’d love to have my contacts. calendars and other items all in sync from my desktop to my MacBook to my iPhone.

The problem is that MobileMe is slower than a web site about molasses with a dialup connection. When I load MobileMe it takes about 20 seconds for it to “relinquish” control of my browser. My browser is frozen completely. Many times I get error messages about scripts taking too long or the browser just crashing (see image).

Apple has now extended anyone who was a subscriber (free or paid) August 19 at 0:00 Pacific Daylight Time by 60 days to make up for the problems. I hope that it takes them less than 60 days to get it running well or I’ll likely let my free subscription run out.

Perhaps Apple will add the iCal TODO sync with iPhone’s calendar as well.  Leaving out this feature is mindbogglingly idiotic.
