Today the iPhone update 2.2 came out.  I”ve got it installed already.  So far my display is much brighter.  In fact it is nuclear.

What’s in this update:

  • Enhancements to Maps
    • Google Street View*
    • Public transit and walking directions
    • Display address of dropped pins
    • Share location via email
  • Decrease in call setup failures and dropped calls
  • Enhancements to Mail
    • Resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
    • Improved formatting of wide HTML email
  • Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)
  • Improved stability and performance of Safari
  • Improved sound quality of Visual Voicemail messages
  • Pressing Home button from any Home screen displays the first Home screen
  • Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard Settings

This page on Apple’’s web site gives details on a recall which applies to iPhone and some iPod power adapters, mine included.  From the Apple site:

Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter’’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock.

The iPhone 2.1 software update contains many bug fixes and improvements. To get it, connect your iPhone to your computer using iTunes 8 and click Check for Update.
