I just had to mention Phone Balls. Phone Balls are cases which protect phones and have… balls. I can see this being great in many business situations, like when you’re at lunch with the biggest sales prospect you’ve ever had and you take a call. Or how about when you’re meeting with your priest and you whip out your phone to look up a number or something. Awesome.

Helping to fight testicular cancer

All kidding aside, the people at Phone Balls are doing something great. They’re donating 10% of what they make to help fight testicular cancer. Nice job!

PGA Tour iPhone App

I’m an iPhone user. I got the thing so I could be more productive. I have the tools to do that now and I’m slowly but surely working toward utilizing my time better. I have many golf apps for the iPhone, some of which I’ve covered or will cover here. The newest iPhone golf application is the PGATOUR.com app.

I loaded the PGA Tour iPhone application tonight. For being released within the last day or so, the app is very robust and nicely done.

Within the app you can access leaderboards, player profiles, videos (though I had a window pop up saying the video format wasn’t supported) and lots of other neat PGA Tour nuggets. It is nice to be able to check Tiger Woods’ putting stats while in line at the grocery store.

Oh, the app is sponsored by Nike Golf, who has ads all over in there. I guess you have to pay the bills somehow.

For just being released the PGA Tour app is pretty awesome.

iPhone and golf – The Masters Application

I love my iPhone 3G with all of its capabililties. But the “phone” part sucks and the monthly bills are 3x what they were when I was on Verizon. I can now say that all that extra dough is worth it since I’ve installed the free Masters iPhone App.

Features of the Masters iPhone App:

Live Leaderboard keeps you up to date, and shows player pairings and tee times.

Amen Corner Live has live video streaming of holes 11, 12 and 13.

Masters Extra has more video coverage from Augusta.

Live video feeds from holes 15 & 16

The Highlights section has random content, including the Par 3 contest.

An interactive course map tells you about the course and includes video flyovers of each hole.

You can select 3G, Wifi or Edge networks for your connection.

iFrogz iPhone 3G Luxe Case

I’ve got some new pals up north of me about an hour’s drive. They’re called iFrogz and they make cool accessories for the iPhone, iPods and other gadgets. I’ve got a iFrogz 3G Luxe Case for my iPhone 3G and it is awesome.

Materials

The hard shell case comes in two pieces which snap together in the back of the phone. This tough case provides a very good “exoskeleton” for protecting the iPhone 3G.

Despite the fact that the case is a hard plastic, the finish has sort of porous and soft feel. This makes the phone easy to handle. The original iPhone casing is very slick and slips out of my hand easily. It also slips around the dashboard of my car or wherever I put it. With the iFrogz 3G Luxe Case installed the phone doesn’t slip in my hand or around in my car.

Access

While providing excellent protection for the iPhone 3G, the 3G Luxe Case still provides access to all the buttons, ports and sensors of the phone. Once installed there’s no need un take it off.

Screen Protector

Honestly I haven’t installed the included screen protector but I thought I should mention that the iFrogz 3G Luxe Case does include one.

Colors

The 3G Luxe case is available in six different colors: blue, red, purple, green, orange and gray. The bottom half is always black and the color options are for the top half.

Pricing

This hard case retails for $20, but I’ve seen street prices for around $16.
